Congressman Seth Magaziner, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Rhode Island’s 2nd district, took to social media over the past week to comment on various key issues. With tweets touching upon matters of tariffs, technology in governance, and legislative reform, Magaziner shared his views amid ongoing discussions on related topics.

In a post dated April 16, 2025, Magaziner critiqued former President Trump's trade policies. He stated, "Trump’s tariffs are a tax on working people." Magaziner expressed that working individuals in sectors such as construction, hospitality, healthcare, and manufacturing face the brunt of these measures. He urged the former president to consider perspectives beyond his "billionaire bubble."

On the same day, Magaziner addressed the cancellation of technology by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in favor of larger corporations. In his words, "So instead of using technology to make government more efficient, DOGE is canceling technology to make big corporations richer." His tweet suggested contemplation on the prioritization of corporate interests over governmental efficiency.

The following day, April 17, 2025, Magaziner discussed ethics in congressional activities, particularly in regards to stock trading. He tweeted, "More and more members of Congress agree: we should NOT be trading stocks while in office." He mentioned his bill designed to ban such practices, noting its growing support among public figures and citizens alike, calling for momentum to translate into actionable change.

Seth Magaziner, born in Bristol, Rhode Island, graduated from Brown University and later from Yale University. Succeeding James Langevin, he has served in Congress since 2023, representing Rhode Island's 2nd District.
