Congressman Seth Magaziner, currently serving in the United States Congress and representing Rhode Island’s 2nd district, recently shared a series of announcements and opinions through his Twitter account. Magaziner, who succeeded James Langevin in 2023, draws attention to both local achievements and national political actions.
On April 2, 2025, Congressman Magaziner acknowledged the centennial service of the Rhode Island State Police, highlighting their longstanding commitment to "excellence, integrity, and service." In his tweet, he expressed gratitude, remarking, " April 2025 marks 100 years of service for the Rhode Island State police. Since 1925, @RIStatePolice Troopers have stood for excellence, integrity, and service. This month, we honor their legacy and thank them for keeping our state safe."
Later that day, Magaziner criticized a decision involving the Trump administration, stating that President Trump had dismissed the entire staff running the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). This program is designed to assist millions in coping with extreme temperatures. Magaziner condemned the action, posting, "Trump just fired the entire staff running LIHEAP, the program that helps millions keep the heat on when dangerously cold temperatures hit and stay cool from blistering heat. There’s no excuse for a decision this heartless and reckless."
The following day, on April 3, 2025, Magaziner announced a town hall meeting to be streamed live on Facebook, making it accessible for constituents to participate in a live conversation. He invited residents to join the event, saying, " We’ll be streaming our town hall LIVE on Facebook. Tune in at 6:00 PM to listen to the conversation."
