Congressman Seth Magaziner, representing Rhode Island’s 2nd district, has been active in discussing various national issues through his social media posts. On December 10, 2024, he highlighted discussions from a Homeland Security hearing and a Labor Caucus meeting. He also engaged with constituents via a telephone town hall on December 11.
On December 10, Congressman Magaziner tweeted about the arrest of a white supremacist by the FBI. The individual had allegedly planned to use a drone equipped with explosives to target the power grid. In his post, Magaziner stated: "A few weeks ago, the FBI arrested a white supremacist who planned to use a drone with an explosive to attack the power grid." He further mentioned that drones present both threats and opportunities for safety and discussed these aspects during a Homeland Security hearing.
Later that day, he addressed federal workers' roles in essential services like Social Security customer service and VA claims processing. At the Labor Caucus meeting, Magaziner collaborated with various unions to discuss protecting these services. His tweet read: "Social Security customer service. VA claims processing. Passport renewal. These are all jobs powered by federal workers."
On December 11, Congressman Magaziner conducted his final telephone town hall of the year with over 5,000 Rhode Islanders participating. Expressing gratitude for their engagement, he assured those who missed it that more sessions would follow in 2025. He tweeted: "Just wrapped my last telephone town hall of the year!"
