Fitchburg State University freshman forward Lena Kassel has been named a Third Team All-American selection by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA), it was announced by the organization Tuesday.
Kassel had a tremendous first collegiate season, finishing second in the country in goals (31) and fourth in total points (67) while leading the Falcons to a berth in the Little East Conference (LEC) Championship Tournament for the first time since 2018. She is the first-ever Fitchburg State player to be named an All-American by the NFHCA.
In addition to her latest accolade, Kassel was named the 2022 LEC Rookie of the Year while earning First Team All-LEC and First Team NFHCA All-Region honors.
