Two Little East Conference (LEC) men’s basketball programs continue to be among those featured in the D3hoops.com Poll, with the first ranking of 2023 released Tuesday evening. Both are among the eight remaining undefeated teams in NCAA Division III this season.
Keene State College extended its best start in program history to 11-0 with a 62-54 non-conference victory over Emerson on December 30. The Owls totaled 501 points in this week’s ranking and one first-place vote, placing them just behind No. 5 Rochester (518 points).
Western Connecticut State University improved its record to 10-0 on the season after winning the Wolves Holiday Tournament to cap off 2022, cruising past The City College of New York (94-59) and SUNY Maritime (110-52). WestConn remains among the teams receiving votes in the poll.
Keene State will open the New Year Wednesday with a LEC game at UMass Dartmouth (6 p.m.) before the Owls and Wolves square off at Keene State Saturday at 3 p.m. West
Conn’s first contest of 2023 will be at KSC.
