The Keene State College women’s volleyball team will open its 2022 NCAA Division III Championship Tournament run against national-ranked Juniata College, it was announced by the national office Monday. Juniata will host the eight-team regional November 10-12.
The Owls (13-14) received the Little East Conference’s automatic berth into the tournament field after taking home a five-set, come-from-behind victory at top-seeded Plymouth State University in the LEC tournament final. Keene State setter Kacie Blanchet was named the LEC Championship Tournament most outstanding Player after quarterbacking Keene State to their first LEC tournament crown since 2008.
The Owls are making their second-ever NCAA tournament appearance, the first being their 2008 LEC championship season. They are in search of their first NCAA tournament victory.
Juniata received the AQ from the Landmark Conference with a four-set win over the University of Scranton. The Eagles are ranked second in the nation in the current (November 1) American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III Coaches Poll, and enter the NCAA tournament at 28-1 overall while riding a 21-match winning streak.
The winner of that match will take on the winner of the SUNY Cortland (21-5) versus Rowan University (24-6). The rest of the regional includes Christopher Newport University (21-13), SUNY Morrisville (23-7), Ithaca College (24-4) and Alfred State University (21-6).
