CCRI's annual commencement returns to The Dunk for the first time in two years

01

Community College of Rhode Island recently issued the following announcement.

After COVID-19 forced the Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) to pivot to virtual commencement ceremonies in 2020 and 2021, the college today announced it will return to an in-person commencement at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence on May 12.

While details are still being finalized, CCRI will welcome the Classes of 2020 and 2021 to join the Class of 2022 for commencement ceremonies.

“Commencement is the day the CCRI community gathers together with family and friends to celebrate the hard work and dedication that led our students to this tremendous academic achievement,” said CCRI President Meghan Hughes. “Every graduate deserves that moment of recognition when they cross the stage to receive their diploma as friends and family cheer them on. After a two-year hiatus, I am so pleased we are able to provide our graduating students with a traditional commencement ceremony with all the pomp and circumstance the day brings. And, what will make this commencement even more memorable is having the Class of 2020 and Class of 2021 join us in the celebration.”

CCRI held virtual commencement ceremonies in 2020 and 2021, including a special in-person “Grad Walk” last year in which graduates crossed the commencement stage in a special pre-recorded ceremony at CCRI’s Knight Campus.

CCRI will follow all state, local, and venue COVID-19 protocols. More detailed information will be available in the coming days on the college’s commencement website, ccri.edu/commencement.
