Softball Athletes of the Week: March 13, 2023

Player of the Week
Amauri English (North Providence, R.I.) - Sophomore - Utility UMass Boston
English was named the LEC Player of the Week after leading the Beacons to a 3-0 start to the year, as she batted .625 (5-for-8) with three extra-base hits to go along with her team-leading six RBIs, and holding a slugging percentage of 1.125. ­English was 1-for-3 with an RBI-triple and a run scored in a 6-2 win over Scranton before going 1-for-2 with a two-RBI double in an 11-1 five-inning win over Wilson. She capped the week going 3-for-3 with a double, three RBI and a run scored in a 9-1 five-inning win over Saint Joseph (Conn.).
 
Pitcher of the Week
Jill Richards (Kingston, Mass.) - Graduate Student - UMass Dartmouth
Richards was named the LEC Pitcher of the Week after going 3-0 in the circle for the Corsairs last week, with a pair of complete-game shutouts. She scattered four hits while fanning 10 batters in a 4-0 win over Otterbein before tossing a one-hitter with nine Ks in a 3-0 victory over Penn State-Behrend.
 
Rookie of the Week
Lauren Miner (Millbury, Mass.) - Freshman - Infield - UMass Boston
Miner was named LEC Rookie of the Week after batting .667 (4-for-6) and slugging 1.667 while driving in five runs and scoring four times over the first three games of her collegiate career, which saw the Beacons go 3-0. She was 2-for-2 with a triple, a two-run homer, three RBI and two runs scored in the 6-2 win over Scranton before going 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored in the 9-1 five-inning win over Saint Joseph (Conn.).
