Little East Conference recently issued the following announcement.
A pair of standout players from the top-two teams in the Little East Conference (LEC) standings earned a spot on the D3baseball.com Team of the Week for the week-ending April 3, 2022.
Eastern Connecticut’s Luke Broadhurst, who is the reigning LEC Player of the Week, batted .700 (7-10) and slugged 1.900 in a 3-0 week for the Warriors, belting four homers as he piled up 10 RBI and eight runs scored. The senior third baseman opened the week going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI and three runs scored in a 13-1 non-conference win over Wheaton (Mass.). Broadhurst then went a combined 4-for-6 with three homers, three walks, seven RBI and five runs scored as Eastern notched 11-5 and 14-1 conference victories over Plymouth State Saturday.
UMass Boston’s Luke Leavitt batted .800 (8-10) and slugged 1.900 in a 2-2 week for the Beacons, recording two extra-base hits, eight RBI, three runs scored and three stolen bases. The sophomore outfielder was 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and a run scored in a non-conference setback at Western New England before going a combined 5-for-6 with a double, five RBIs, three stolen bases and two runs scored in a conference sweep of Castleton (12-2 and 7-4).
