Little East Conference recently issued the following announcement.
Collegiate Baseball Newspaper released its first NCAA Division III regular season weekly poll since the conclusion of the 2019 season Tuesday. Eastern Connecticut is ranked 11th in the poll, while UMass Boston is among the teams receiving votes in the poll.
The Warriors improved to 12-2 overall after winning four-of-five games last week. Eastern defeated Nichols (13-3) and Westfield State (8-2) before opening the Little East Conference (LEC) portion of its schedule with a sweep of Castleton, downing the Spartans by scores of 12-3 and 13-3. The Warriors closed the week with a 7-3 setback to New England College Sunday.
The Beacons improved to 11-2 overall after winnings each of their four games played last week. UMass Boston opened the week defeating Johnson & Wales (7-6) and Salve Regina (14-9) in non-conference play before winning both ends of a rain-shortened LEC twin bill against Western Connecticut by scores of 9-0 and 6-2.
The Warriors return to action Wednesday with a non-conference game against Wheaton (Mass.) before heading to Plymouth State for a league twin bill Saturday. The Beacons are scheduled to head to Western New England for a non-conference game Thursday before heading to Castleton Saturday for a conference doubleheader.
