Congressman Seth Magaziner, who represents Rhode Island’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on October 14, 2025, highlighting concerns about health care costs and the ongoing government shutdown.
In a post at 18:18 UTC, Magaziner wrote, “Open enrollment is right around the corner, and Rhode Islanders’ health insurance costs are about to explode. We can’t wait another day for relief from the health care affordability crisis. It’s time to act – no more kicking the can down the road.”
Later that day at 20:41 UTC, he invited constituents to an event for assistance with federal issues: “Join our team on Oct. 15, 11 AM–1 PM at Cross’ Mills Public Library in Charlestown. We can answer your questions about the government shutdown, and help with issues involving Social Security, the IRS, Veterans Affairs, the State Department & more.”
Magaziner also criticized House leadership in a post at 21:45 UTC: “Speaker Johnson has kept the House closed since September 19. While Republicans are on vacation, the govt has shut down & millions of Americans are about to see their health care costs skyrocket. We are demanding that he call the House back to work to address this crisis.”
Seth Magaziner has served as U.S. Representative for Rhode Island’s 2nd District since replacing James Langevin in 2023. Born in Bristol in 1983 and currently residing in Cranston, Magaziner holds degrees from Brown University and Yale University.
