Seth Magaziner, U.S. Congressman representing Rhode Island’s 2nd district since 2023, marked the 60th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act and highlighted local community engagement and international aid efforts in a series of posts on August 6, 2025.
In his first post, Magaziner commemorated the Voting Rights Act’s anniversary by stating, “The Voting Rights Act transformed our nation for the better 60 years ago today, but the fight to protect the freedom to vote continues. We cannot let extremists in Congress and on the Supreme Court block American citizens from accessing the ballot box.” (August 6, 2025).
Later that day, he shared his experience at a local event: “Stopped by National Night Out in Johnston yesterday, where neighbors and first responders came together to talk, listen, and just have a great time!” (August 6, 2025).
Magaziner also announced progress on international humanitarian efforts: “After months of advocacy, we have secured a crucial victory: @EdesiaNutrition’s life-saving food aid will be on its way to save the lives of malnourished children soon. We will remain vigilant to ensure that there are no more delays or disruptions.” (August 6, 2025).
Magaziner was born in Bristol, Rhode Island in 1983 and currently resides in Cranston. He succeeded James Langevin as representative for Rhode Island’s 2nd district. Magaziner is an alumnus of Brown University and Yale University.
