Seth Magaziner, U.S. Congressman representing Rhode Island’s 2nd district since 2023, marked Medicare’s 60th anniversary and highlighted local humanitarian efforts in a series of social media posts on July 30, 2025.
In a post celebrating the milestone for the federal health insurance program, Magaziner wrote: “Happy Birthday, Medicare! For 60 years, Rhode Island seniors have relied on Medicare to stay healthy and independent. Now it is our generation’s job to protect it against any attempts to cut it and jeopardize health care.” (July 30, 2025)
Later that day, Magaziner recognized Rhode Islanders’ contributions to global food aid initiatives. He stated: “Rhode Islanders are stepping up to ship food made by @EdesiaNutrition to children in need around the world. This generosity is what makes RI special. But we must restore federal funding to ensure this work doesn’t stop again.” (July 30, 2025)
Magaziner also appeared on a local podcast, writing: “Had a great time joining Bill Bartholomew on the Bartholomewtown podcast to talk about the issues that matter to Rhode Island. Give it a listen “ (July 30, 2025)
Magaziner was born in Bristol, Rhode Island in 1983 and currently resides in Cranston. He holds degrees from Brown University and Yale University. He succeeded James Langevin as representative for Rhode Island’s 2nd congressional district beginning in January 2023.
