U.S. Congressman Seth Magaziner, who represents Rhode Island’s 2nd district, used his social media platform to update constituents on local efforts during a record snowfall and recent legislative actions.
On February 24, 2026, Magaziner addressed the severe winter weather in Rhode Island, posting: “The President is giving his State of the Union address tonight, but I am most needed here in Rhode Island, helping to dig out our neighbors from the record snowfall. Stay off the road today, Rhode Island, and check in on your neighbors.” He emphasized community safety and encouraged residents to look after one another during hazardous conditions.
Later that evening, Magaziner shared details of his hands-on involvement with local relief efforts: “Spent some time shoveling out seniors on Federal Hill with @RachelRI. Check in on your neighbors, and don’t be afraid to ask for help if you or anyone you know is stuck!” The message highlighted collaboration with community members and continued calls for vigilance.
In a separate post early on February 25, Magaziner referenced a recent vote in Congress: “Voting against cutting 15 million people off health care to pay for tax breaks for the wealthy? Yeah we did.”
Magaziner has served as U.S. Representative for Rhode Island’s 2nd District since 2023 after succeeding James Langevin. Born in Bristol in 1983 and currently residing in Cranston, he is an alumnus of Brown University (BA) and Yale University.
