Seth Magaziner, U.S. Congressman representing Rhode Island’s 2nd district since 2023, used his social media platform to highlight concerns regarding immigration enforcement under the Trump administration and potential risks to health care coverage if certain federal tax credits expire.
On December 9, 2025, Magaziner posted about actions taken by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), stating, “Under the Trump Administration, ICE has imprisoned a police officer, a combat veteran, a grandmother, and a child with cancer. All in the country LEGALLY. All with no serious criminal records. Some are still locked up. Tell their stories.”
Later that same day, Magaziner addressed health care issues related to the Affordable Care Act (ACA), writing on December 9, 2025: “1 in 4 Americans covered by the Affordable Care Act are considering going uninsured next year if Republicans in Congress let the tax credits expire. This is a crisis & Congress needs to act now to extend the tax credits & make health care more affordable.”
The following day, on December 10, 2025, he shared an additional resource for his followers with the message: “Important resource here: https://t.co/mEBEfNbC1d”.
Magaziner was born in Bristol, Rhode Island in 1983 and currently resides in Cranston. He succeeded James Langevin as representative of Rhode Island’s 2nd district after winning election in 2023. Magaziner graduated from Brown University in 2006 and Yale University in 2010.
