Seth Magaziner, U.S. Congressman representing Rhode Island’s 2nd district since 2023, used his social media platform on October 10, 2025, to address several issues including health care funding, community support organizations, and affordable housing in Rhode Island.
In a post from October 10, Magaziner criticized the characterization of Americans advocating for health care funding as “terrorists.” He wrote: “The 80% of Americans who want health care funding in the budget are not ‘terrorists’, they are every people who can’t afford for their premiums to double. Stop whining and call a vote on a budget that includes health care funding. It’s that simple.”
Later the same day, Magaziner highlighted the ongoing efforts of local nonprofit organizations during difficult times. He stated: “In these challenging and uncertain times, @liveunitedri continues to provide essential support to nonprofits, families and individuals in need. I enjoyed meeting with the UWRI team today and continue to be grateful for their work.” This message referenced United Way of Rhode Island (UWRI), an organization supporting community initiatives across the state.
On October 10 as well, Magaziner announced progress in addressing Rhode Island’s housing crisis by marking the opening of new apartments in Providence. He posted: “Today we celebrated the opening of the @CrossroadsRI Summer Street Apartments in Providence – 176 new permanent homes for Rhode Islanders. This is a major step forward in tackling the housing crisis and making Rhode Island a more affordable place to live.”
Magaziner has represented Rhode Island’s 2nd congressional district since succeeding James Langevin in 2023. Born in Bristol in 1983 and now residing in Cranston, he holds degrees from Brown University (2006) and Yale University (2010).
