U.S. Congressman Seth Magaziner, who represents Rhode Island’s 2nd district, recently posted a series of updates on his official Twitter account regarding federal funding for local infrastructure, legislative proposals related to presidential fitness, and congressional stock trading reform.
On April 18, 2026, Magaziner announced the allocation of funds to support municipal projects in Coventry. He wrote, “Working with local officials, I was happy to secure $2.25 million for Coventry to repair Wood Street and build a new waste management facility.”
Later that day, Magaziner addressed concerns about presidential capacity by joining a proposal with Rep. Jamie Raskin. He stated, “We need to know if the most powerful person in the world is unable to do their job. That is why I’ve joined @RepRaskin on a proposal to establish a process to evaluate the president’s mental fitness. Here is how it would work: https://t.co/y0o04QVzNl”
On April 19, 2026, Magaziner called for action on banning congressional stock trading. He posted, “It’s been nearly a year since Mike Johnson said he was ‘in favor’ of a ban on congressional stock trading. Yet there has not been a single vote on the House floor. Our Restore Trust in Congress Act is ready and would pass overwhelmingly. Speaker Johnson: it is time.”
Magaziner has represented Rhode Island’s 2nd District since 2023 after succeeding James Langevin in Congress (https://bioguide.congress.gov/search/bio/M001220). Born in Bristol in 1983 and currently residing in Cranston, Magaziner holds degrees from Brown University and Yale University.
