Congressman Seth Magaziner, who represents Rhode Island’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, highlighted local education initiatives and voiced concerns about national fiscal policy in a series of posts on May 9, 2026.

On May 9, Magaziner shared his participation at a Providence event honoring students and corps members: “I enjoyed celebrating standout students and corps members at this year’s @CityYear Red Jacket Gala in Providence.  City Year is doing great work to build a better Rhode Island through service and education.”

Later that day, he promoted an opportunity for young technologists: “Rhode Island students: the Congressional App Challenge for RI-02 is now open! Represent our state by submitting your original App by October 26. Winners will be invited to DC to learn from other coders. In another post on May 9, Magaziner addressed federal spending priorities: “Our children are going to be paying for unnecessary wars and billionaire tax cuts for years to come. We need a serious change of course in this country.”

Magaziner has served as the U.S. Representative for Rhode Island’s 2nd District since 2023, succeeding James Langevin. He was born in Bristol, Rhode Island in 1983 and currently resides in Cranston. Magaziner holds degrees from Brown University (2006) and Yale University (2010).
