Congressman Seth Magaziner, who represents Rhode Island’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, used his social media platform on February 5, 2026, to address concerns about housing costs and legislative efforts aimed at increasing housing supply.
In a post published at 18:03 UTC, Magaziner stated, “To bring down housing costs, we need to build more homes, faster. That is why I support the Cut Red Tape for Housing Act, which removes federal barriers to construction and helps boost housing supply so we can lower costs.”
Later that evening at 19:59 UTC, he criticized priorities in Washington by writing, “I really wish people in Washington would spend as much time figuring out how to lower costs as they do obsessing over becoming famous.”
At 22:53 UTC on the same day, Magaziner reiterated his focus on addressing housing affordability with another post: “To lower the cost of housing, we need to build more housing. Here is what I am doing to help.”
Magaziner has served in Congress since 2023 after succeeding James Langevin as representative for Rhode Island’s 2nd district. Born in Bristol in 1983 and currently residing in Cranston, Magaziner holds degrees from Brown University and Yale University.
