Congressman Seth Magaziner, who represents Rhode Island’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared updates on federal funding for local projects and his stance on national spending priorities through a series of posts on social media.
On April 8, 2026, Magaziner expressed gratitude to Senator Sheldon Whitehouse for organizing an event focused on environmental leadership: “Thank you to @SenWhitehouse for convening the 16th RI Energy, Environmental and Oceans Leaders Day, to recommit ourselves to protecting our local environment and safeguarding our planet for the next generation.”
Later that day, he commented on the allocation of federal tax dollars ahead of the annual filing deadline: “The tax filing deadline is one week away and guess what? Instead of education and healthcare, billions of our tax dollars just got spent on the war in Iran. I am fighting to make sure that our taxes are used to make life better for Americans, not more foreign war.”
On April 9, Magaziner highlighted recent federal grants secured for Coventry: “Today we celebrated two grants I secured for Coventry: $1.5 million to repair sidewalks and prevent flooding $750,000 for a new waste collection facility I will continue working hard to bring home federal funding for #RI02”
Magaziner has served as Rhode Island’s 2nd district representative since replacing James Langevin in 2023. He was born in Bristol in 1983 and currently resides in Cranston. Magaziner graduated from Brown University with a BA in 2006 and earned an additional degree from Yale University in 2010.
