Seth Magaziner, U.S. Congressman representing Rhode Island’s 2nd district since 2023, recently shared updates on legislative efforts and community engagement through a series of posts on his official social media account.
On August 5, 2025, Magaziner addressed the challenges facing first-time homebuyers, writing, “At 36, the average first-time homebuyer is older than ever, and millions are still locked out. .@SenWhitehouse and @RepJimmyPanetta’s bill will give first-time home buyers a refundable tax credit and make home ownership a reality for more. I’m proud to sign onto it.” The statement highlights support for legislation introduced by Senator Sheldon Whitehouse and Representative Jimmy Panetta aimed at providing financial assistance to prospective homeowners.
Later that day, Magaziner commented on economic policy with a succinct post: “Lower the tariffs, lower costs, grow the economy.” (August 5, 2025).
On August 6, he reported on a local event with fellow Rhode Island Senator Jack Reed: “It was a pleasure to team up with @SenJackReed for a packed town hall tonight in Johnston. We answered lots of good questions and heard ideas about how we can deliver for working people. I am always grateful to hear from Rhode Islanders directly and bring your voices back to DC.”
Magaziner has served as the representative for Rhode Island’s 2nd district since replacing James Langevin in 2023. Born in Bristol in 1983 and currently residing in Cranston, Magaziner holds degrees from Brown University (2006) and Yale University (2010).
