Seth Magaziner, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Rhode Island’s 2nd district since 2023, used his social media platform to criticize former President Donald Trump and congressional Republicans over healthcare policy and government funding negotiations.
On September 29, 2025, Magaziner commented on former President Trump’s approach to bipartisan cooperation in healthcare, stating, “Trump is just discovering that Democrats have good ideas on healthcare because he wouldn’t even meet with Democratic leaders until the shutdown forced the issue. Imagine if he actually met and worked with Democrats regularly instead of engaging in endless partisan theatrics.”
The following day, September 30, Magaziner addressed rising healthcare costs and congressional negotiations: “Health care costs are rising because Trump and Republicans slashed billions from our health care system. Now, as Congress negotiates government funding, Republicans are refusing to work on lowering costs for people.”
Later that day, he further criticized Republican leadership regarding a potential government shutdown: “Trump always an ends up saying the quiet part out loud. He wants to shut the government down to inflict pain on working people. Republicans control every branch of government. They own this chaos.”
Magaziner has represented Rhode Island’s 2nd district since replacing James Langevin in 2023. Born in Bristol in 1983 and currently residing in Cranston, Magaziner holds degrees from Brown University (2006) and Yale University (2010).
