Seth Magaziner, U.S. Congressman representing Rhode Island’s 2nd district since 2023, addressed several issues in recent posts on his social media account, including clean energy policy and support for local law enforcement.
On May 15, 2026, Magaziner criticized federal energy policies under the Trump administration. He stated, “The Trump administration is playing games to prevent clean energy from reaching the grid and lower costs for consumers.”
Later that day, Magaziner recognized Peace Officers Memorial Day during Police Week by posting: “Peace Officers Memorial Day happens each year during #PoliceWeek and is a time to remember the first responders who didn’t make it home at the end of their shift. I will keep working to deliver resources to local officers so they can safely and effectively serve Rhode Islanders.” The observance highlights fallen first responders and ongoing efforts to support police in Rhode Island.
On May 17, Magaziner addressed North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum’s role as a member of former President Donald Trump’s cabinet. He posted: “North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum used to brag about expanding wind energy in his state. Now in Trump’s cabinet, he is blocking wind energy that would lower people’s electric bills. I asked him for an explanation.”
Magaziner has represented Rhode Island’s 2nd District since replacing James Langevin in 2023. Born in Bristol, Rhode Island in 1983, he currently resides in Cranston. He holds degrees from Brown University (2006) and Yale University (2010).
