Congressman Seth Magaziner, who represents Rhode Island’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, has used social media to highlight his concerns over the ongoing government shutdown and rising health care costs.
On October 10, 2025, Magaziner posted, “Everyone deserves access to affordable, high-quality care. But RIers are facing a health care crisis.
I’m ready to vote for a budget that lowers costs & strengthens the health care system. Republicans in Congress just need to work with us.

The following day, he criticized House Republicans for their absence from Washington during the shutdown: “House Republicans have been on vacation for 22 days.
The government is shut down and health care costs are exploding.
Cancel the vacation, and let’s get back to Washington. We have work to do. https://t.co/qzu9B5NWEa” (October 11, 2025).
Later on October 11, Magaziner continued his call for action: “Americans are dealing with crushing health care costs. Republicans in Congress chose to shut the government down instead of working with us on solutions.
I’m fighting to reopen the government and lower costs for Rhode Islanders. https://t.co/7qIcv8hhHR“
Magaziner has served as Rhode Island’s representative since replacing James Langevin in 2023 and currently resides in Cranston. He was born in Bristol in 1983 and is an alumnus of Brown University and Yale University.
