Seth Magaziner, U.S. Congressman representing Rhode Island’s 2nd district since 2023, has used his social media platform to comment on recent Congressional activity and humanitarian aid efforts.
On October 7, 2025, Magaziner posted criticism of the House Republican majority, stating, “House Republicans have been on vacation for 18 days. The government is shut down and health care costs are exploding. Cancel the vacation, and let’s get back to Washington. We have work to do.” Later the same day, he highlighted progress in international food aid distribution, writing, “Boxes of lifesaving food aid manufactured by @EdesiaNutrition in NK are finally moving again to hungry children around the world. This is the result of months of advocacy and proof that even in these challenging times, it’s still possible to get good things done.”
On October 8, 2025, Magaziner reiterated his earlier criticism as the Congressional recess continued, posting, “House Republicans have been on vacation for 19 days. The government is shut down and health care costs are exploding. Cancel the vacation, and let’s get back to Washington. We have work to do.”
Magaziner’s statements come during a period of government shutdown and rising health care costs. Edesia Nutrition, referenced in his tweet about food aid, is a Rhode Island-based nonprofit that produces ready-to-use foods for malnourished children worldwide.
Seth Magaziner was born in Bristol, Rhode Island in 1983 and currently resides in Cranston. He graduated from Brown University in 2006 and Yale University in 2010. He succeeded James Langevin in Congress in 2023.
