Congressman Seth Magaziner, who represents Rhode Island’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, has voiced concerns on social media about proposed Republican funding cuts to health care and the recent congressional recess.
On October 2, 2025, Magaziner posted about a local provider: “Tri-County Community Action Agency in Johnston delivers medical, dental, mental health, & family services to people across RI. Costs for these services will be out of reach for many if Republican funding cuts take effect. The budget must include adequate health care funding.”
The following day, he described returning to his home state: “I came back Rhode Island to hear firsthand how the health care affordability crisis is hurting our state. The takeaway was clear. Republicans cannot be allowed to cut health care funding for Americans from the federal budget.” This post underscored his opposition to potential reductions in federal health care spending.
Later on October 3, Magaziner criticized congressional inactivity during a period of government uncertainty: “You have been doing no work. You literally closed the house and went on a two-week vacation with the government shutting down and healthcare costs set to explode. Call back your members. Work with us. Do your job.”
Seth Magaziner began serving as Rhode Island’s 2nd district representative in 2023 after succeeding James Langevin. Born in Bristol in 1983 and now residing in Cranston, Magaziner is an alumnus of Brown University and Yale University.
These statements come amid ongoing national debates over federal budget priorities and efforts by some lawmakers to reduce government spending on programs including health care.
