Congressman Seth Magaziner, who represents Rhode Island’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets on January 21, 2026, addressing concerns about law enforcement practices under the Trump Administration and engaging with his constituents.
In a tweet posted at 20:36 UTC, Magaziner criticized actions by the Department of Homeland Security during Donald Trump’s presidency: “If a regular police officer anywhere in the country sprayed tear gas into a moving car with a 1-year-old, they’d be fired. But in Trump’s Dept. of Homeland Security, there are no guardrails and no accountability. Instead of enforcing the law, they’re making Americans less safe.”
Later that evening at 22:17 UTC, he questioned the administration’s approach to victims: “Why does the Trump Administration keep blaming the victims? Unacceptable.”
Magaziner also shared information about his ongoing engagement with local residents. At 23:47 UTC he wrote: “Tonight I hosted a telephone town hall to hear directly from Rhode Islanders about what matters most. It is clear RIers want me to focus on lowering costs, creating good-paying jobs, and standing up to political extremism. Thanks to the more than 9,000 constituents who joined.”
Seth Magaziner has served as U.S. Representative for Rhode Island’s 2nd District since replacing James Langevin in 2023. Born in Bristol in 1983 and currently residing in Cranston, Magaziner holds degrees from Brown University and Yale University.
