Congressman Seth Magaziner, who represents Rhode Island’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing both local acts of heroism and international human rights concerns.
On July 18, 2025, Magaziner highlighted a story from the Boston Globe, writing: “From the Boston Globe: An off-duty Warwick police captain jumped into action to help save a woman and her three children. This is the kind of heroism that makes Rhode Islanders proud.”
Turning to international issues, Magaziner expressed relief over the release of Andry Hernandez Romero from CECOT prison in El Salvador. On July 19, 2025, he stated: “I am grateful that Andry Hernandez Romero has been released from the notorious CECOT prison in El Salvador. I will continue to monitor his status in Venezuela.” In a follow-up post on the same day, Magaziner added: “Andry is one of hundreds sent by the Trump Admin to the prison in El Salvador with no due process & no criminal record. Andry deserves better. We need a fair immigration system, not arbitrary cruelty.”
Seth Magaziner has served as U.S. Representative for Rhode Island’s 2nd District since 2023 after succeeding James Langevin. Born in Bristol, Rhode Island in 1983 and currently residing in Cranston, Magaziner holds degrees from Brown University and Yale University.
