Congressman Seth Magaziner, who represents Rhode Island’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, has recently addressed the ongoing government shutdown and its impact on health care costs through a series of social media posts.
On October 16, 2025, Magaziner posted: “The solution to ending this crisis is simple: House Republicans need to end their recess, come back to work, and pass a budget that protects health care and lowers costs. Millions of Americans are counting on it.”
The following day, he reiterated his concerns about Congressional inaction, stating: “House Republicans have been on vacation for 28 days. The government is shut down and health care costs are exploding. Cancel the vacation, and let’s get back to Washington. We have work to do.” This message was posted on October 17, 2025.
In addition to his commentary on federal issues, Magaziner highlighted local community engagement efforts in Rhode Island. On October 17, 2025, he wrote: “Today I joined @CityYearPVD to kick off a new year of service as their AmeriCorps members head out to schools across Rhode Island. These dedicated volunteers are making a real difference in the lives of students, and I’m proud to support their work to help every child succeed.”
Seth Magaziner has served as a member of Congress representing Rhode Island’s 2nd District since replacing James Langevin in 2023. He was born in Bristol, Rhode Island in 1983 and currently resides in Cranston. Magaziner holds degrees from Brown University (BA) and Yale University.
