Congressman Seth Magaziner, who represents Rhode Island’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, used his social media platform to address issues related to federal food assistance, health care funding, and government operations in early November 2025.
On November 3, Magaziner posted: “Hunger should never be used as a political weapon. It took two orders from federal judges for Trump to release funding for SNAP. Now Republicans in Washington need to extend the Affordable Care Act funding, reopen the government, and put this insanity behind us.”
Later that day, he shared his participation in a local community event: “Today I joined Rhode Islanders helping neighbors in Cranston during a difficult time. 500 baskets from the @epfoodrescue were distributed in Cranston. This is community at its best, stepping up when Trump’s attempt to withhold SNAP benefits put people at risk of going hungry.” The event took place in Cranston, where Magaziner currently resides.
On November 4, Magaziner criticized congressional activity amid ongoing national issues: “House Republicans have been on vacation for 46 days. The government is shut down and health care costs are exploding. Cancel the vacation, and let’s get back to Washington. We have work to do.”
Magaziner has served as Rhode Island’s representative since replacing James Langevin in 2023 and has roots in Bristol and Cranston. He holds degrees from Brown University and Yale University.
