Congressman Seth Magaziner, who represents Rhode Island’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, shared updates on his legislative activities and funding announcements through a series of tweets on January 22, 2026.

In one post from that day, Magaziner criticized former President Donald Trump’s immigration enforcement tactics, stating: “Trump continues to send ICE to attack innocent people – including US citizens – with excessive force. I am joining @RepDeliaRamirez to introduce the DHS Use of Force Oversight Act & apply the oversight & de-escalation standards that *every other law enforcement agency follows.*” (January 22, 2026).

Later that afternoon, Magaziner announced federal funding for local law enforcement in Warwick: “$800,000 is coming to Warwick to help the Warwick Police Department purchase new portable radios and police scanners. This funding we secured in annual government funding legislation will improve emergency response and help make Warwick safer.” (January 22, 2026).

Magaziner also indicated his opposition to an upcoming congressional vote on Homeland Security appropriations: “Congress is about to vote on a Homeland Security funding bill. Here is why I am voting no.” (January 22, 2026).

Seth Magaziner has represented Rhode Island’s 2nd District since replacing James Langevin in 2023. He was born in Bristol, Rhode Island in 1983 and currently resides in Cranston. Magaziner holds degrees from Brown University and Yale University.
