Congressman Seth Magaziner, who represents Rhode Island’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, announced several legislative initiatives and funding measures on his social media account on March 7, 2026.
Magaziner first shared his role as lead sponsor of a bill focused on transforming vacant office buildings into residential units. In his post, he stated: “I just became the lead sponsor of a bill to set up a new tax credit to convert empty office buildings into housing. And I have a thought for which building we should start with…” (March 7, 2026).
Later that day, Magaziner highlighted federal support for local law enforcement in Warwick. He wrote: “In an emergency, seconds can mean the difference between life and death. I was proud to deliver $800,000 for the Warwick Police Department to upgrade their radios, helping officers respond faster and keep Warwick safe.” (March 7, 2026).
Addressing concerns about energy costs and infrastructure stress from large-scale data centers, Magaziner posted: “Working people and small businesses are already facing rising energy costs. Now, massive data centers threaten to strain the grid and push utility bills even higher. I’m proud to cosponsor the SHIELD Act to ensure large power users pay their fair share — not you.” (March 7, 2026).
Seth Magaziner has represented Rhode Island’s 2nd District since succeeding James Langevin in 2023. Born in Bristol in 1983 and currently residing in Cranston at age 39, Magaziner holds degrees from Brown University (2006) and Yale University (2010).
