Congressman Seth Magaziner, who represents Rhode Island’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, addressed several issues affecting workers and policy integrity in a series of posts on May 12, 2026.

In his first post of the day, Magaziner highlighted the economic impact of global conflict on local industries: “Rhode Island fishermen can’t afford diesel for their boats because of the unnecessary war.” (May 12, 2026).

Later that afternoon, he turned his attention to labor rights and historical exploitation of American workers: “There have always been men in positions of power who have tried to exploit America’s workers and pay politicians to look the other way. This is why workers need the right to join unions.” (May 12, 2026).

In an evening post, Magaziner criticized financial practices among policymakers and called for stricter enforcement against insider trading: “Washington insiders shouldn’t be able to profit off policy outcomes they help create. That is why I am calling on the DOJ to crack down on insider trading on prediction markets. The corruption on these apps is another way the system is rigged for insiders over working people.” (May 12, 2026).

Magaziner has served as Rhode Island’s representative since replacing James Langevin in 2023. Born in Bristol in 1983 and now residing in Cranston, he holds degrees from Brown University and Yale University.
