Congressman Seth Magaziner, who represents Rhode Island’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of messages on August 7, 2025, addressing issues related to veterans, labor rights, and healthcare policy.
In a post marking Purple Heart Day, Magaziner stated: “Service members who were awarded Purple Hearts deserve the utmost respect for their sacrifice for our country. On this Purple Heart Day, we honor their service to protect our freedoms.” (August 7, 2025).
Later that day, Magaziner addressed labor concerns involving Department of Veterans Affairs employees. He wrote: “Every worker deserves the right to join a union if they choose, and that includes the devoted men and women who care for our veterans. This attack on VA workers is wrong, and will ultimately hurt veterans the most.” (August 7, 2025).
Magaziner also commented on proposed changes to healthcare subsidies in Rhode Island. Citing an idea from @Weayonnoh regarding Affordable Care Act subsidies, he said: “.@Weayonnoh has a Good Idea: we must extend the Affordable Care Act subsidies. Without it, 40k RIers could see an 85% healthcare premium hike next year. My response: I won’t vote for a budget bill unless it includes an extension. Tell me what you think:” (August 7, 2025).
Seth Magaziner has represented Rhode Island’s 2nd District since succeeding James Langevin in 2023. Born in Bristol in 1983 and currently residing in Cranston at age 39, Magaziner holds degrees from Brown University and Yale University.
