U.S. Congressman Seth Magaziner, who represents Rhode Island’s 2nd district, posted a series of tweets on March 8 and 9, 2026, addressing economic policy, women’s achievements, and local sports milestones.
On March 8, Magaziner commented on the impact of tariffs implemented during former President Donald Trump’s administration. He stated: “Rhode Island households spent thousands of dollars more last year because of inflation caused by Trump’s tariffs that the Supreme Court just ruled are illegal. President Trump: Enough with the tariffs already. Just drop it.”
Later that day, in recognition of International Women’s Day, Magaziner tweeted: “It is International Women’s Day! Today, we celebrate the generations of trailblazing women who have paved the way for progress and made the world better and stronger as a result of their perseverance.”
On March 9, he congratulated the University of Rhode Island women’s basketball team for their achievement: “The Rhody Women are going to the Dance for the first time in 30 years! Congrats to Coach @treiss32 and the whole team on a well deserved A-10 championship!”
Seth Magaziner has served in Congress since replacing James Langevin in 2023. Born in Bristol in 1983 and currently residing in Cranston, Magaziner holds degrees from Brown University (2006) and Yale University (2010).
