U.S. Congressman Seth Magaziner, who represents Rhode Island’s 2nd district, addressed issues ranging from tariffs affecting holiday shopping costs to bipartisan efforts on healthcare and support for firefighters in a series of posts on December 12, 2025.
In his first post of the day, Magaziner commented on rising holiday expenses: “If your holiday gifts feel more expensive this year, it is not in your head: it is the tariffs. So many families already stretch every last dollar to put gifts under the tree for their kids, and these cost increases are making it that much harder.” (December 12, 2025).
Later that evening, Magaziner announced his participation in a bipartisan petition related to health insurance tax credits: “I just signed a bipartisan petition led by @RepBrianFitz to force a vote on extending ACA tax credits for two years. It is not a permanent solution and it does not go as far as I would like, but it will ensure people don’t lose their health insurance in the new year.” (December 12, 2025).
Magaziner also shared details of his engagement with firefighter representatives: “As a member of the @Labor_Caucus, I was pleased to meet with @IAFFofficial General President Kelly. Firefighters play a key role in keeping us safe. I am committed to supporting efforts to secure fair wages, strong benefits, and the tools they need to do their jobs safely.” (December 12, 2025).
Seth Magaziner has served as U.S. Representative for Rhode Island’s 2nd District since replacing James Langevin in 2023. Born in Bristol in 1983 and currently residing in Cranston at age 39, he holds degrees from Brown University and Yale University.
