Congressman Seth Magaziner, who has been representing Rhode Island’s 2nd district since 2023, recently addressed several pressing issues through his social media posts. Born in Bristol, Rhode Island in 1983 and currently residing in Cranston, Magaziner has a background that includes degrees from Brown University and Yale University.
On July 2, 2025, Congressman Magaziner highlighted the challenges faced by Rhode Island restaurant owners due to economic policies. He shared an article from the Providence Journal, stating “Rhode Island restaurant owners are getting squeezed by high costs from tariffs.” He attributed these financial strains to what he described as “President Trump’s mismanagement of the economy.”
The following day, on July 3, 2025, Magaziner issued a statement concerning an incident of hate in East Providence. He provided a link for further details: “My statement on a recent incident of hate in East Providence: https://t.co/6hHg3hPFqV”.
Later that same day, he commented on ongoing efforts by House Democrats against a controversial bill. He praised Leader Jeffries’ dedication during a prolonged filibuster session. Magaziner noted “Leader Jeffries hasn’t slept in two days, is now eight hours and counting into his filibuster.” This action was part of their strategy to oppose what they referred to as the “Big Ugly Bill.”
Seth Magaziner has been actively involved in addressing both local and national issues since taking office after James Langevin’s tenure ended.
