Congressman Seth Magaziner, who represents Rhode Island’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, addressed several national issues in a series of posts on October 16, 2025.
In a post published at 15:07 UTC, Magaziner criticized the impact of tariffs imposed during the Trump administration, stating, “The cost of coffee, meat, and fruit are all higher because of Trump’s tariffs. This economy is failing working people.”
Later that day, at 17:04 UTC, Magaziner commented on the deportation of Afghan allies who assisted American soldiers, writing, “Now they are deporting people who risked their lives to help American soldiers in Afghanistan, and came to the US legally. These people should be treated like heroes, not criminals.”
At 21:04 UTC, Magaziner responded to questions about health care funding negotiations with a brief statement: “I keep getting the question: ‘Why can’t Congress negotiate on health care funding later?’ Here’s why this can’t wait.”
Magaziner has served as a member of Congress since 2023, succeeding James Langevin as the representative for Rhode Island’s 2nd district. Born in Bristol, Rhode Island in 1983 and currently residing in Cranston, Magaziner is a graduate of Brown University and Yale University.
