Congressman Seth Magaziner, who represents Rhode Island’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently used his social media platform to address several policy issues, including Social Security, tax reform, and government ethics.

On August 2, 2025, Magaziner posted about participating in an event marking a major milestone for Social Security: “I joined @AARPRI to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Social Security. Social Security is a lifeline for working Rhode Islanders that we must protect at all costs.”

Later that day, he commented on federal tax policy: “Trump cut taxes for billionaires. I think we should cut taxes for the Middle Class instead—with a fair tax code that works for everyday people, not hedge fund managers.” This statement underscores his support for middle-class tax relief over benefits directed toward wealthier Americans.

On August 3, Magaziner addressed issues related to government transparency and ethics: “No more stock trading in Congress. No more crypto being sold from the Oval Office. No more dark money in our elections. I’m fighting for a government that’s honest, ethical, and works for you.”

Magaziner has served as Rhode Island’s 2nd District representative since replacing James Langevin in 2023. Born in Bristol in 1983 and currently residing in Cranston, he is an alumnus of Brown University and Yale University.
