Congressman Seth Magaziner, who represents Rhode Island’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, addressed several policy issues in a series of tweets posted on August 19, 2025.
In his first post, Magaziner highlighted his stance on Social Security, stating: “For 90 years, Social Security has kept millions of seniors out of poverty. Now, it’s under attack from politicians who want to cut benefits and raise the retirement age. Not on my watch. I will always fight to protect Social Security for today’s seniors and future generations.” (August 19, 2025).
Later that day, Magaziner responded to questions about redistricting efforts across major states. He wrote: “People are asking me what is really going on with redistricting in states like Texas and California. Here’s my answer.” (August 19, 2025).
In another tweet focused on military service members, he promoted legislation aimed at student loan forgiveness for National Guard and Reserve members: “Members of the National Guard and Reserves answer the call to duty, but aren’t always given the credit they deserve. My bill, the National Guard and Reserve Student Loan Fairness Act, will ensure that every day of service counts toward their student loan forgiveness.” (August 19, 2025).
Magaziner began serving as a member of Congress for Rhode Island’s 2nd district in 2023 after succeeding James Langevin. Born in Bristol in 1983 and currently residing in Cranston, Magaziner is an alumnus of Brown University and Yale University.
