Congressman Seth Magaziner, who represents Rhode Island’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of updates on September 15, 2025, highlighting legislative efforts on retirement savings, immigration ceremonies in Rhode Island, and international humanitarian concerns.

In his first post of the day, Magaziner addressed issues with unclaimed retirement funds: “Americans work hard and deserve every penny of the benefits they’ve earned. Yet nearly a billion dollars in retirement benefits are stuck in old, inactive retirement accounts. I am teaming up w/ @RepRonEstes on a bill to reunite Americans with their lost retirement savings.” (September 15, 2025). This announcement comes as many Americans face difficulties accessing dormant funds from previous employment. According to federal estimates, billions of dollars remain unclaimed due to workers changing jobs or losing track of former accounts.

Later that afternoon, Magaziner shared his participation at a naturalization ceremony: “Today, I had the honor of attending a ceremony where 24 new Americans were sworn in as U.S. citizens. Immigration has always been central to the history and culture of Rhode Island and our nation, and I was proud to congratulate these new Rhode Islanders.” (September 15, 2025). Rhode Island has long held a reputation for welcoming immigrants and integrating them into its social fabric.

In his final update for the day, Magaziner focused on international food aid policy: “Last week’s defense bill reminds us: protecting America also means advancing humanitarian efforts around the world. That’s why, for the 38th time, I called on the Trump administration to restore lifesaving food aid for starving children.” (September 15, 2025). The Congressman has repeatedly advocated for restoring foreign assistance programs cut during previous administrations.

Seth Magaziner began serving in Congress in January 2023 after succeeding James Langevin as representative for Rhode Island’s 2nd district. He was born in Bristol in 1983 and resides in Cranston. Magaziner is an alumnus of Brown University (2006) and Yale University (2010).
