U.S. Congressman Seth Magaziner, who represents Rhode Island’s 2nd district, recently shared updates on community events and national policy issues through a series of posts on his official social media account.

On August 10, 2025, Magaziner highlighted his participation in a local cultural event, stating: “Stopped by the Summer Festival on Federal Hill today—a wonderful celebration of Rhode Island’s Italian heritage! “

Later that day, he addressed the impact of federal policy changes under former President Trump on Edesia, a Rhode Island-based nonprofit that produces food aid for malnourished children worldwide. Magaziner wrote: “President Trump’s cuts left Edesia’s warehouses full, workers laid off, and children without food. Months of advocacy later, food will be moving again soon. .@navyn_salem put it best: ‘By not letting up or giving up, we held America to its ideals as a force for good.'” The statement references ongoing efforts to restore funding and resume humanitarian operations.

On August 11, 2025, Magaziner commented on economic policy by criticizing tariffs implemented during the Trump administration. He stated: “Tariffs = taxes on the things you buy at the store. If we want to make it easier for working people to keep up with the cost of living, we need to cancel Trump’s tariffs now.”

Magaziner has served in Congress since 2023 after succeeding James Langevin as representative for Rhode Island’s 2nd district. Born in Bristol in 1983 and currently residing in Cranston, Magaziner holds degrees from Brown University and Yale University.
