Congressman Seth Magaziner, who represents Rhode Island’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, used his social media account on July 27, 2025, to highlight concerns facing small businesses in the state’s tourism sector and to comment on national economic issues.
In a post made at 12:42 p.m., Magaziner stated, “We are well into the summer tourism season and too many RI small businesses in the tourism & hospitality industry are telling me that business has slowed down. We need a common sense agenda to support this industry and the workers who make their livelihoods from it. Watch: https://t.co/TkSkKvY3OO”.
Later that day at 1:27 p.m., he addressed the impact of tariffs imposed by former President Donald Trump, writing, “Trump’s tariffs are raising prices on food, clothing, and everyday essentials. While Americans work harder than ever to stay afloat, he’s making life more expensive. Tariffs are taxes, and working people are paying the price. https://t.co/iyZRRIey4E”.
At 5:25 p.m., Magaziner called attention to international aid issues with another post: “Another week passed and funding still has not been restored for the lifesaving food aid produced by @Edesianutrition. Malnourished children cannot wait. https://t.co/9Z5IYMWner”.
Magaziner has represented Rhode Island’s 2nd District since replacing James Langevin in 2023. He was born in Bristol, Rhode Island in 1983 and currently resides in Cranston. Magaziner is an alumnus of Brown University (BA) and Yale University.
