Congressman Seth Magaziner, who represents Rhode Island’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, has recently used his social media platform to address issues ranging from labor rights in the entertainment industry to stock trading by lawmakers and federal agency funding.
On March 25, 2026, Magaziner shared a meeting with SAG-AFTRA President Sean Astin at the Labor Caucus. He wrote, “I met w/ @sagaftra President & college football legend @SeanAstin at the Labor Caucus to talk about protecting workers in the entertainment industry. From fair wages to protecting people’s image & likeness being copied by AI, we have to make sure artists are treated fairly.”
The following day, on March 26, 2026, Magaziner posted about legislative ethics: “The American people deserve leaders who serve them, not themselves. The House floor should not be a stock exchange. Pass my bill to ban stock trading in Congress now.”
Later that same day, he commented on government funding priorities: “We can and should vote today to fund TSA, FEMA and other critical agencies. But we are not going to throw billions of dollars more at ICE without real reforms.”
Magaziner began serving as U.S. Representative for Rhode Island’s 2nd district in 2023 after succeeding James Langevin. Born in Bristol, Rhode Island in 1983 and currently residing in Cranston, Magaziner is an alumnus of Brown University and Yale University.
