Congressman Seth Magaziner, who represents Rhode Island’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on September 19, 2025, addressing immigration enforcement, congressional ethics, and labor rights.
In one post from that day, Magaziner highlighted the case of a California resident: “Narciso Barranco has lived in California for 30 years. He and his wife, a U.S. citizen, raised three Marines. Yet masked ICE agents ambushed and detained him at work. Is this how we treat the families of those who serve?” (September 19, 2025).
Later that afternoon, Magaziner addressed congressional stock trading practices: “Members of Congress should not be day trading on insider info. Speaker Johnson: It’s time to bring our Restore Trust in Congress Act to the floor. No more excuses.” (September 19, 2025).
He also commented on labor negotiations and union rights: “Too many workers win their vote to unionize only to get stalled by delay tactics when bargaining for fair wages and benefits. The Faster Labor Contracts Act fixes that by requiring timely negotiations. Proud to cosponsor this bill to make sure a ‘yes’ vote means a real contract.” (September 19, 2025).
Seth Magaziner has served as the representative for Rhode Island’s 2nd District since replacing James Langevin in 2023. Born in Bristol, Rhode Island in 1983 and currently residing in Cranston, Magaziner is an alumnus of Brown University and Yale University.
