Congressman Seth Magaziner, who has represented Rhode Island’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress since 2023, recently addressed several issues of local and national importance through a series of public statements on social media. Magaziner, a Bristol native born in 1983 and now residing in Cranston, is a graduate of Brown University and Yale University.
On July 15, 2025, Magaziner highlighted extreme weather conditions affecting his constituency by stating: “Rhode Island is under a heat advisory through Thursday evening. Stay safe and stay cool — follow @RhodeIslandEMA for updates. Find local cooling centers here: https://t.co/J3y33EMg7y”. This message was intended to inform residents about ongoing heat advisories and provide resources for staying safe.
Later the same day, Magaziner commented on legal matters involving former President Trump and Paramount. On July 15, he wrote: “All to say: this lawsuit was bogus, and this settlement is effectively a bribe. I introduced the Don’t Settle for Bribes Act to prevent President Trump, or any sitting president, from profiting from lawsuits like this $16 million settlement from Paramount.” This statement referenced recent litigation and legislative efforts aimed at preventing presidential profiteering from legal settlements.
On July 16, Magaziner addressed food aid funding during remarks on the House floor: “Today, I spoke on the House floor for the 28th time to demand the Trump Administration restore funding for food aid made by @EdesiaNutrition. This isn’t even about a policy debate. This is about holding them to their word.” His comments focused on accountability regarding commitments to support nutrition programs.
Seth Magaziner succeeded James Langevin as representative of Rhode Island’s 2nd district in 2023.
