Congressman Seth Magaziner, who represents Rhode Island’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed several national issues through a series of posts on his social media account.
On March 27, 2026, Magaziner highlighted concerns about rising energy costs and corporate profits, stating: “RIers are being hit with sky-high energy bills while big corporations post record profits. I am cosponsoring new legislation to aggressively lower costs by cracking down on price gouging, ensuring data centers pay for their energy, & investing in affordable clean energy.”
Later that day, he criticized a proposed allocation of federal funds for military purposes: “The Trump Admin is asking Congress for $200 billion for the War in Iran. Here are some other things we could use $200 billion for to actually help the American people…” (March 27, 2026).
On March 28, 2026, Magaziner commented on political ethics and financial transparency in Washington: “Washington will keep serving big corporations instead of everyday people until we end the corruption that rules Washington. That starts with banning members of Congress from trading stocks.”
Seth Magaziner has served as a member of Congress since 2023 after succeeding James Langevin as representative for Rhode Island’s 2nd district. Born in Bristol in 1983 and currently residing in Cranston, Magaziner holds degrees from Brown University and Yale University.
