Congressman Seth Magaziner, who represents Rhode Island’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently used his social media platform to address issues concerning education funding, immigration policy, and child care affordability.
On July 16, 2025, Magaziner posted about efforts to restore funding for afterschool programs and teacher training. He stated: “ICYMI: I joined Commissioner Infante-Green and @PVDMayor to call on the administration to restore the funding for afterschool programs and teacher training that it has frozen. Blocking this funding hurts students and is completely unnecessary.”
The following day, July 17, he commented on immigration enforcement priorities by writing: “Criminals should be deported. Kids with cancer should not. Period.”
Later on July 17, Magaziner addressed the rising cost of child care in a separate post: “Child care costs have skyrocketed and working parents are paying the price. I am co-sponsoring @BobbyScott’s Child Care for Working Families Act to fund child care and ensure families pay no more than 7 percent of their income on care. This puts kids and families first.”
Seth Magaziner began serving as U.S. Representative for Rhode Island’s 2nd District in 2023 after succeeding James Langevin ([source](https://ballotpedia.org/Seth_Magaziner)). Born in Bristol in 1983, Magaziner resides in Cranston and holds degrees from Brown University (2006) and Yale University (2010).
