Seth Magaziner, U.S. Congressman representing Rhode Island’s 2nd district since 2023, recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing housing policy, federal funding disputes, and community events.
On April 4, 2026, Magaziner commented on a recent court decision involving housing advocacy groups and former President Trump: “Good news that @CrossroadsRI and other housing advocates have beaten Trump in court over the attempt to politicize funding for housing. There should not be political tests for orgs to provide affordable housing for Americans.”
Later that day, he addressed the ongoing Department of Homeland Security (DHS) funding issue: “The DHS shutdown is not a ‘both sides’ issue. The Senate has passed a funding bill. The White House supports it. @HouseDemocrats support it. House Republicans are the only reason DHS funding hasn’t passed.”
On April 5, 2026, Magaziner attended a local cultural event and shared his reflections: “Honored to attend the grand opening of the African American Museum of Rhode Island. Rhode Island’s Black community has shaped our state in so many ways. This museum helps ensure those stories are told, preserved, and celebrated for generations to come.”
Magaziner succeeded James Langevin in Congress after winning election in 2022. Born in Bristol in 1983 and now residing in Cranston, he holds degrees from Brown University and Yale University.
