Congressman Seth Magaziner, who represents Rhode Island’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently used his social media platform to address several legislative issues, including stock trading bans for lawmakers, gun safety legislation, and upcoming federal funding deadlines.
On September 8, 2025, Magaziner posted about growing support for restrictions on congressional stock trading: “Momentum to ban stock trading in Congress is growing stronger every day. Glad to have @CongressMin and so many others on the team!”
Later that day, he commented on a recent shooting incident involving children in Minneapolis. In his post dated September 8, 2025, Magaziner stated: ” After school children were senselessly shot and killed in Minneapolis, I joined 129 of my colleagues to call on Speaker Johnson to go beyond offering prayers and pass real gun safety laws. Will he respond?”
Addressing looming fiscal deadlines, Magaziner wrote on September 8, 2025: “In three weeks, government funding will run out. In three months, Affordable Care Act funding will be automatically reduced if nothing is done. Here is how I plan to handle these two deadlines:”
Magaziner has served as the representative for Rhode Island’s 2nd District since replacing James Langevin in 2023. Born in Bristol in 1983 and currently residing in Cranston, Magaziner graduated from Brown University with a bachelor’s degree in 2006 and later earned an additional degree from Yale University in 2010.
